Green vs Screen

According to market researcher conducted by Childwise in 2015, kids aged five-16 average 6.5 hours screen time a day, with teenage boys spending the most time on screens – an average of 8 hours a day. Thus, a typical teen can expect to spend upwards of 90 days – or 3 months – a year staring at a screen.

That's terrifying!

Your brain is like a muscle and the more you use it in a particular the way the stronger it becomes. Like with memory or problem-solving. If we use our brains to do these things then it becomes more efficient and sophisticated at these activities.

The amazing thing about exposing your kids to green spaces is that it has the reverse effect on the nervous system to the glow of screens.

Instead of over exciting your nervous system, green space offers a level of calm that isn't achieved by staring at a screen.

So get out of the house, get into those green spaces and exercise that brain!
